Saturday, February 23, 2013 Saturday February 23rd Lake Norman hosted a training burn on Fawn Ln. Training burns are designed to create "live fire" training conditions for firefighters to practice and refine their skills. For some of the newer members this was the first live fire training. Training officer Don Clark is responsible for all that is involved in making the training burns happen here at Lake Norman Fire Dept. In order to host a training burn the state mandates that it must be in the hands of a live burn instructor. Burn instructor Joel Privette along with Captain Chris Goforth, Captain Rob Colvert, Engineer Marcus Perkins and A shift station 4 crew from Mooresville Fire Dept attended. Weather was less than desireable, but it was a successful burn none the less. Engine 2 was primary pumper and Marine 1 was utilized for water supply.
Saturday, February 23, 2013 Just before 23:00 Lake Norman Fire/Rescue was dispatched for an MVA w/injuries,vehicle rollover, in the 1800 block of Brawley School Rd. Within minutes Eng 2 was responding with a crew of 4. Deputy Chief Clark arrived on scene and confirmed a single vehicle rollover with heavy damage, all victims free. Engine 2 arrived and shutdown the road due to an extreme amount of debris. Lake Norman personnel assisted EMS with pt care and both occupants were transported. Additional personnel were called to the scene to clear debris from approximately 350ft of roadway. Units on scene: Lake Norman: Engine 2, Squad 1 ICEMS: Imed 30, 6 NCSHP: Multiple Units
Friday, November 30, 2012 On the evening of Friday, November 30 Lake Norman held the annual Christmas Banquet for firefighters and family. The evening began with dinner and desert provided by Trump National Golf Club Charlotte. Following dinner, Chief Weatherman spoke about the department and thanked all members for thier dedication and service. Awards were presented by Chief officers. Sunday, July 15, 2012 Just before 1400 hrs, Lake Norman was dispatched for a Level 1 Haz Mat on Elysian dr. Engine 1 arrived and found a large ski boat that had partially sunk while docked at the owners pier. It was confirmed that there were no occupants on the vessel. Due to the engine compartment being under water the vessel was leaking gasoline to the surface. Command ( Captain M.Baker) called for Mooresville's HazMat Response Team. The Haz-Mat Team arrived and deployed absobant booms to conatin the leak. The scene was then turned over to the proper agencies. Units On Scene:LKNVFR: Eng 1MFR: Batt 1 Haz Mat 1 & 2
Friday, July 13, 2012 At around 1630 Lake Norman was placed on standby for the city while they were busy on a structure fire due to a lightning strike. Engine 2 was staffed within 5 minutes with 4 personnel. At 1747 Shepherds, Lake Norman, Troutman, and Sherills Ford were dispatched to a structure fire in Shepherds area. Mooresville Engine 4 was also added as they were clearing the initial fire in the city just a short distance away. Shepherds arrived on scene with heavy smoke showing from the attic of a 3 story residential structure. Engine 2's crew was given the RIT assignment to support Mooresville Engine 4 who was performing fire attack. Engine 2's driver assisted with water supply and supporting an exposure line which was put in place. Wednesday, July 4, 2012 On July 4th, the memmers of Lake Norman Fire/Rescue assisted with the 1st annual fireworks display hosted by Trump National of Charlotte. The event began around 1700 with games and food for the spectators. Lake Norman had 28 members on scene for the event, which was estimated at having 10,000 in attendance. The district was covered with the assistance of South Iredell, Mooresville, and Mt Mourne Fire Departments. Monday, June 18, 2012 AT 1416 hrs Lake Norman, Shepherds, and Mt Mourne were dispatched to a possible structure fire. Within 5 minutes Chief Weatherman followed by Eng 1 arrived on scene of a single story residence with smoke showing. Eng 1 crew led by Capt D. Clark deployed a hand line and made entry to the residence. Eng 1 crew found a fire on the stove with extension to the cabinets. The fire was extinguished with a water can,Lake Norman Eng 2 crew arrived and cleared the structure of smoke. the fire was caused by a pot left unattended on the stove.
Wednesday, May 23, 2012 At 15:30 hrs this afternoon Lake Norman was dispatched along with Mooresville Eng 2, Troutman, and Sherrills Ford to assist Shepherds for a possible structure fire. Lake Norman Eng 2 was responding within 3 minutes of dispatch with a crew of 4. Shepherds arrived on scene and confirmed a working fire. Lake Norman Eng 2 provided water supply while the crew assisted with suppression efforts. While Eng 2 was commited on scene the station was manned with 8 personnel
