rlaney Lake Norman Station’s 9/11 Memorial
September 11th, 2011
rlaney The next time you drive by Lake Norman Fire and Rescue’s station at 1518 Brawley School Rd., look at the pavillion in front of the main entrance. The plaque on the stone pedistal has the name of a 9/11 victim. The entire pavillion was done in the honor of Todd Douglas Pelino. Todd was a power broker at Cantor Fitzgerald. He worked on the 101st floor of WTC 1 (the north tower). The flag poles too carry a 9/11 significance. From left to right, the poles are 30 feet tall, 40 feet tall, and 30 feet tall. This was done in honor of the 343 FDNY members who perished in the line of duty that fateful day. There are also several messages on the bricks that surround the pedistal. We the members of Lake Norman Fire and Rescue welcome everyone to stop by and look at the pavillion, take a moment to reflect, and always remember the sacrifices made on September 11, 2001.
